Family Trails

The DreiSeenBahn takes you quickly up to 2,410 m. From there, walking past the Upper Plenderlessee, it takes just 8 minutes to reach the DreiSeen Hut at 2,311 m, which is located directly on the Lower Plenderlessee. It features a sun terrace and a large playground. The descent then takes you past the Middle Plenderlessee, on to the Hirschebensee (2,164 m), past the Kühtai High-Altitude Training Center, and back to the valley station.

A leisurely family hike around the Längental Reservoir (unfortunately not fully accessible at this time due to construction at the power plant). Park in the free parking lot right by the reservoir. Alternative route: Start at the Kühtai Tourist Office, take the Kühtai Village Loop to the reservoir, walk around the reservoir, and return via the Village Loop.

Take the DreiSeenBahn up, then hike down past the Upper Plenderlessee; in just 8 minutes you’ll reach the DreiSeen Hut at 2,311 m, which features a terrace and is located right on the Lower Plenderlessee. Then follow the high-altitude panoramic trail to the Finstertal Reservoir.

Tip: Visit the Energy Exhibition Hall. Return to Kühtai to the DreiSeenBahn valley station either via the marked and signposted trail or via the paved path.

Start at the HochAlterBahn valley station, which has free parking, or right next to it at the Sonne & Schnee inn, 2,020 m, with a terrace. Head up to the StartBahn mountain station, then descend gently to the Dorfstadl at 2,000 m, which has a sun terrace; behind the Dorfstadl, go down to the road and follow the sidewalk to the chapel at the Kühtai hunting lodge. 

Continue along the trail to the KaiserBahn valley station and on to the Dortmunder Hütte at 1,949 m, which also has a terrace. Cross the road to the trail leading to the Kühtai High-Altitude Training Center, then walk slightly uphill to Kühtai; behind the church, head back toward the Sonne & Schnee Inn or the HochAlterBahn parking lot.
